This month sees the first of a new monthly art & craft feature for Creative Charlie's local newspaper, East End Life.
Creative Charlie HQ got a mention in the Evening Standard this month;
Here's a picture of our stall at The Hatton Garden Festival on Saturday June 12th. Lots of families came and visited our drop-in workshop area, and made some fantastic paper beads and jewellery out of recycled paper. More images from the day are on the blog.
Creative Charlie is proud to be one of the growing numbers of shedworkers in the UK, so it was a great honour to be featured in the book; Shedworking: The Alternative Workplace Revolution by Alex Johnson
We were very happy to run creative workshops for children at the East London Design Show for the third year running. Here's a photo of us at work in the Mayor's Palour kids area - a beautiful sunny room in Shoreditch Town Hall. Thanks to everyone who came and visited.

Creative Charlie Make Masks were featured in The Week Christmas Gift Guide 2009.

We had an overwhelming response at Top Drawer Spring,
and are planning to have a list of all Creative Charlie stockists on the site soon.
The East London Design Show was great fun. We were co-hosting the kids area again, along with the fab Clothkits. Here are a couple of photos of the Creative Charlie area, where everyone was busy making hats and mobiles of birds and snowmen.

Then we were at the Eco
Design Fair in the Old Truman Brewery, which was definitely the coldest venue we have ever exhibited at. (They still haven't sorted the heating out since I had my first art studio there way back in 1995!) Frostbite was avoided by drinking mulled wine with neighbouring stall Nixie - who make beautiful clothes for children using recycled material.
Thanks to everyone who came and visited us, and wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and 2009.

The Independent newspaper, Friday 5th December

The rainy day box was featured in the Christmas gift guide as a great gift for little ones;
"Art boxes are everywhere, but this ones a winner on many levels. It's stacked with feathery, sparkly, crafty stuff, much of it recycled, and it clinched gold in the Practical Pre-School Awards 2008. Easy to follow instruction sheets, beeswax crayons, biodegradable paints, a window mount to present artwork, an apron made by a Philippine women's co-operative and so much more. You could bore your children on sustainability for hours but they'd much rather get stuck in with the doilies and pompoms."

The Green Parent, December/January 2009
The Creative Charlie paint your own t-shirt was featured as one of the best crafty kits available to inspire creative children.
To help get you in the Christmas spirit here are our paper chain instructions, as published on Ethical Pulse.
Creative Charlie at the Green Canary Day

We are absolutely thrilled to bits to have won our first award.
